Perimenopause & Menopause Dietitian Support
Your body is changing.
Your nutrition strategy should change with it.
Work with a Registered Dietitian in British Columbia for personalized perimenopause and menopause nutrition support – including sustainable weight loss, muscle maintenance, energy, and practical meal planning that fits real life.
For women who feel like what used to work for weight loss and energy no longer works.

When What Used to Work No Longer Works
You’re managing work, family, and a calendar that barely leaves room for you – and now your weight, energy, appetite, and body composition may feel different too.
Perhaps the diets that once produced quick results now feel less effective or harder to maintain. Or you’re tired of reading confusing advice about what women should eat in midlife.
Perimenopause can begin before periods stop, and nutrition support can be helpful during this transition. [1]
We help you build realistic eating habits that support sustainable weight loss, muscle maintenance, long-term health, and everyday life during perimenopause or menopause.
Personalized guidance with a clear direction

Move away from low calorie diets, carb restriction, and fasting patterns that no longer work for you.
Build a healthier relationship with food while working towards sustainable weight loss.
2. Structure
Get the clarity and structure you need – without rigid rules.
Build a personalized meal structure around your goals, health history, and life stage –

to support sustainable weight loss, muscle maintenance, and bone health.
3. Systems
Make healthy eating easier on busy weeks.
Create reliable breakfasts, repeatable lunches, realistic takeout options, grocery routines,
and backup plans for the days when you’re low on time and energy.

Nutrition Support For Perimenopause And Beyond
Menopause nutrition is about more just about weight. Your plan should support sustainable weight loss, muscle gain or maintenance, energy, and long-term health as your needs change.
1. Sustainable Weight Loss
Develop practical nutrition strategies that support weight loss without relying on more restriction, skipped meals, or another short-term diet.
2. Protein, Muscle & Body Composition
Get enough protein to support muscle maintenance or gain, strength, and body composition as you move through perimenopause and menopause.
3. Long-Term Health
Build eating habits that support cholesterol, blood sugar, heart health, energy, and overall health – not just the number on the scale.
4. Hunger, Cravings & Symptom Management
Build practical strategies for changes in hunger, cravings, stress eating, and symptoms that can make eating feel less predictable during perimenopause and menopause.
Menopause weight management without another restart
Weight changes in midlife are not explained by hormones alone. Ageing is a major contributor to weight gain, while menopause can change where fat is stored. Sleep, activity, stress and eating patterns also matter.[2]
When weight loss is one of your goals, we help you work towards it while paying attention to nutritional adequacy, muscle-supporting habits and your relationship with food. There is no promised rate of loss, waist measurement or deadline for getting your old body back.
Together, we can also define progress in ways that are meaningful to you: fewer skipped meals, less evening food stress, greater confidence eating out, or clinical markers reviewed with your healthcare team.
Weight loss is not everyone’s priority. Tell us whether you are most concerned about meal structure, bone-health nutrition, food confidence or weight management. We will explain whether our current services fit the support you are seeking.
A menopause meal plan that fits your actual week
A menopause diet plan needs to work on your busiest weekday, not only when there is time to shop, cook and track everything. We help you find useful structure without asking you to prepare separate meals for yourself and everyone else.
A starting point for the morning
Choose breakfast options you enjoy and can repeat. Discuss protein foods, fruit, whole grains and suitable dairy or fortified alternatives as part of your wider nutrition plan.
A plan before the afternoon gets away from you
Build lunches and snacks around the time and facilities you actually have. A short list of convenient options can be more useful than a complicated weekly menu.
Room for dinner out and the unexpected
Practise adapting at restaurants, while travelling or when you are too tired to cook. The goal is to make decisions with more confidence, not avoid every situation you cannot control.

Meal ideas are examples, not a prescribed menopause menu. Your dietitian can account for allergies, intolerances, cultural foods, vegetarian preferences and the amount of preparation you are comfortable doing.
Personalized support, with someone to work through it with

Founder of Diet Redefined
Diet Redefined is led by Helen Tieu, RD, MAN. Our approach is built around helping busy professionals make nutrition changes they can use beyond the first few weeks.
During your complimentary consultation, we discuss your priorities, the appropriate dietitian, program options, fees and availability. When you begin care, a fuller assessment helps shape your nutrition plan, with follow-up to review and adjust it.
Nutrition support alongside your menopause care
Bring questions about your current prescriptions, supplements and medical advice. We can account for these in nutrition planning, but decisions about hormone therapy, investigations or medication changes stay with your prescribing clinician.
Disrupted sleep, persistent fatigue, new symptoms or changes in bleeding should not simply be blamed on food. Discuss these with your doctor or nurse practitioner.[1] Nutrition care is part of the picture, not a replacement for medical assessment.
Menopause and perimenopause nutrition questions
Can I work with a perimenopause dietitian before my periods stop?
Yes. You can discuss nutrition and eating concerns during perimenopause as well as after menopause. You do not need to wait for a particular birthday or for your periods to stop before asking about support. Your medical clinician can assess symptoms and help clarify your life stage.
Should I see a menopause dietitian or a menopause nutritionist?
People use both terms when looking for food guidance. At Diet Redefined, nutrition counselling is provided by Registered Dietitians. Your consultation is an opportunity to discuss the support you need and whether our approach fits your goals.
Do I need a special menopause diet or intermittent fasting?
We do not make a restrictive diet or fasting schedule a condition of working together. Our starting point is a varied eating pattern adapted to your health, preferences and routine.[3] Your dietitian can help you assess an approach you have tried instead of assuming you need to follow the latest trend.
Can you help with menopause belly fat or weight gain?
We can support weight-management goals and discuss changes in body composition, but we do not promise to remove fat from a specific area. We work on your overall nutrition and habits, with realistic goals and adjustments based on your progress and health needs.
How much protein should I eat during menopause?
Your protein needs depend on factors such as body size, health conditions and activity. We help you establish an appropriate target and work out how to meet it through meals and snacks. A standard number from social media is not a personalized assessment.
Can a meal plan balance my hormones or stop hot flashes?
We do not promise hormone balancing, menopause reversal or guaranteed symptom relief through food. Nutrition care can support your overall health while your medical clinician assesses bothersome symptoms and treatment options.[1] The 4S framework is our approach to building sustainable habits, not a hormone treatment.
Can I get support while taking hormone therapy or a GLP-1 medication?
Yes, tell us about your prescribed treatment so your nutrition plan can account for it. We do not prescribe or alter medication. Our GLP-1 nutrition support also addresses eating and meal-planning concerns when appetite changes.
What does support cost, and can I use my benefits?
We explain current program options, fees and what is included during your complimentary consultation. Some extended health plans cover Registered Dietitian services. Confirm your own coverage, annual limits and any referral requirements with your insurer. The introductory call is not a full nutrition assessment.
